Visiting WWF-Philippines at IFEX 2018

Secret 6 visits IFEX

Last May 25, 2018, representatives from Secret 6 visited the International Food Exhibition 2018, also known as IFEX Philippines, at the World Trade Center.

Organized by several government agencies such as the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS), IFEX Philippines is the country’s biggest international trade exhibition of Philippine and Asian ethnic and specialty food products.

Each booth showcased a unique food product based on their origin, either from different Philippine regions or Asian country that we were able to enjoy as we passed through the different halls.

But what was a game studio like us doing at an exhibit like IFEX Philippines.

Located in Hall D, booth L-33 was the exhibit of WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines. WWF Philippines is a non-government organization known for improving Filipino lives by crafting solutions to climate change, providing sustainable livelihood programs, and conserving the country’s richest marine and land habitats.

One of WWF’s advocacies is sustainable dining, which is part of their sustainable livelihood programs. To promote their advocacy, they partnered with us to bring Balay Kawayan to visitors in IFEX.

Balay Kawayan is an interactive dining experience that spreads awareness on sustainable dining practices, and how our dining choices affect the environment.

During the event, witnessing firsthand event-goers playing the game was an empowering experience to the team.

Seeing the game being picked up easily and seeing players learn of the advocacy through it made us feel a sense of accomplishment in being able to touch their lives through the game. For the team, the entire project was a life-changing experience that made us more aware of our dining choices that affect the environment.

To bring the curtain down on these new learnings and experiences, Secret 6 looks forward to collaborating and working with partners that create a positive impact to the world.
